Talking points for parents

Arm yourself with the facts:

  • The majority of kids under the age of 12 who experience gender identity disorder grow out if it by the time they are an adult. According to a study done by Singh, Bradley, Zucker, 2021 —
    • 87.8% of boys desisted back to their natal gender.
    • 12.2% of boys persisted with gender identity disorder.
  • Yet over 40% of children referred to gender clinics are progressed onto medication such as puberty blockers.
  • Childhood social transitions (name changes and presenting as the opposite sex using hairstyles and dress) were also shown to be important predictors for persistence of gender dysphoria into adolescence, especially for boys. Only 6% of children desisted after socially transitioning.
  • By far, the two most common reasons for detransition were shifting political/ideological beliefs, at almost 63%.
  • Acceptance of a boy who likes to play with dolls “as a girl” or acceptance of a lesbian girl “as a straight boy” is not acceptance at all. This is a hypocritical argument that reinforces gender stereotypes.
  • Affirmation is abuse. It convinces the child that they were born into the wrong body and medical intervention is needed to “correct it”.
    • ‘Gender Identity’ is the criteria for being a man or being a woman. ‘Gender identity’ ideology teaches children who don’t conform to masculine or feminine stereotypes that their personalities are ‘wrong’ for their sex, and their bodies are then ‘wrong’ for their gender identity.
    • Would you offer affirmative care and liposuction to someone suffering from an eating disorder?
  • Only 2.5% to 20% of all cases of GID in childhood and adolescence are the initial manifestation of irreversible transsexualism.
  • Gender Identity Disorder is a mental illness according to the American Psychiatric Association.
  • The percentage of Gender Dysphoria in children is between 0.005% and 0.014% in boys and between 0.002% and 0.003% in girls
  • 25-50% of transgender people are adults.
    • Children with parents who suffer from mental illness are substantially more at risk for the same mental illness.
  • Those who have medically transitioned (45%) and surgically transitioned (43%) have higher rates of attempted suicide than those who have not (34% and 39% respectively).
  • 80% of transgender youth have experienced symptoms of an underlying mental illness such as anxiety and/or depression.
  • Evidence from detransitioners suggests that for teenagers who develop gender dysphoria during puberty, affirmation and social transition may cover up underlying mental health problems and encourage a child towards a medical ‘solution’ with lifelong consequences.

Possible side effects of puberty blockers

  • Lower bone density.
  • Depression and other emotional disturbances related to suicide. The package insert for Lupron, the number one prescribed puberty blocker in America, lists “emotional instability” as a side effect and warns prescribers to “Monitor for development or worsening of psychiatric symptoms during treatment.”
  • Temporary use of Lupron has also been associated with and may be the cause of many serious permanent side effects including osteoporosis, mood disorders, seizures,  cognitive impairment and, when combined with cross-sex hormones, sterility.
  • Lupron was first administered to violent sexual offenders in prison to “tame” their temptations. It was essentially a form a chemical castration.
  • The majority of children who take puberty blockers never experience puberty after they stop taking them.
